Bob Garner’s Restaurant Road Trip Comes to Season’s

Bob GarnerHighland Lake Inn and Season’s Restaurant will be featured as a stop on Bob Garner’s Restaurant Road Trip November 13th & 14th. This trip is the first of a series of overnight culinary adventures via motor coach that Bob Garner, partnering with Our State magazine, will be offering to explore some of the best and most unique restaurants he’s reviewed on TV!

The tour will leave from Raleigh, NC on Saturday, November 13th. The group will overnight at Highland Lake Inn, and participate in a southern-style BBQ pig picking, complete with live music at the outdoor pavilion and ending the evening with a campfire by the lake for an informative talk on the history of BBQ by Bob Garner . In the morning, the group will enjoy the Southern County Breakfast Buffet served at Season’s Restaurant.

Bob Garner has a variety of talents ranging from television personality, restaurant reviewer, speaker, author, pitmaster and connoisseur of North Carolina barbecue and traditional southern cuisine. Author of North Carolina Barbecue: Flavored by Time (in its sixth hardcover printing) and Bob Garner’s Guide to North Carolina Barbecue, He has also written extensively for Our State magazine, including a 10-part series, Bob Garner Eats, on traditional southern foods.

On UNC-TV’s popular North Carolina Weekend, aired statewide on Thursday and Friday evenings, Bob is a familiar face in barbecue joints, exclusive restaurants and every type of eatery in between, as he samples outstanding dishes and shares his familiar exclamation of approval: Ummm-ummm!

He has hosted numerous hour-long UNC-TV specials, and has appeared on the Food Network’s Paula’s Home Cookin’, featuring Paula Deen, and Food Nation with Bobby Flay; The Travel Channel’s Road Trip; and ABC’s Good Morning America. Garner was also executive producer and host of a well-received UNC-TV series, Carolina Countryside, celebrating North Carolina rural life, has been a featured speaker at the annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party in New York and the Southern Foodway Alliance’s annual symposium in Oxford, Mississippi, and he speaks frequently to a wide variety of audiences across North Carolina. He is an accomplished barbecue pitmaster and has published his personal recipes for many traditional southern dishes.

Season’s Restaurant is known for its use of fresh ingredients, many of which come directly from the on-site organic garden. By combining their passion for sustainability and amazing flavor, Season’s helps protect the environment and the economy by utilizing local food sources.

Highland Lake Inn is known for its peaceful 26-acre wooded grounds situated on a serene lake, wonderful selection of B&B rooms and weekly rental cottages, assortment of meeting facilities, wedding sites, and superb award-winning restaurant. The property dates back to a 1789 original land grant to John Earle who established the 1st gristmill, Rhett’s Mill, at the present day site of the waterfall.
