I was originally going to post these three pictures and a short blurb about Blackberry Mountain Cafe just on Facebook, but since my page is not allowing multiple photo uploads today (for some reason), I’m posting here.
Blackberry Mountain Cafe is located at 1908 Haywood Rd, Hendersonville, NC. It’s in the previous Patty Cakes Cafe location. The Cafe changed ownership and name back in November, 2011, but they say on their Facebook page they’ve been open since May, 2012.
Kathy Allison, previous owner of Suzanne’s Tea Room in Horse Shoe, NC, is the owner. “This came up unexpectedly. I wasn’t planning on opening another place”, she said this morning. Adding, “We’ve done some cleaning and remodeling before officially opening and have more to go as our budget allows.” According to Allison, new carpets, lighting and grill are on the list.
Blackberry Mountain Cafe could be described as a homey, neighborhood cafe. Chatting at the self-serve coffee station (middle of photo below) is encouraged.
Current hours are Tuesday – Friday 7am to 3pm, Saturday – Sunday 8am to 2pm, Closed Mondays. They serve Breakfast until 2pm every day their open.
Working without a full-on kitchen (no hood), they have a pretty nice menu selection for both breakfast and lunch.
The bacon (ordered “extra crispy”) that came with this Ooey-Gooey Pecan Waffle ($6.95) was cooked in an oven. I thought the waffle might be soggy, but it wasn’t. I also thought it might be sickly-sweet, but it wasn’t.
PIC was happy to find another place that serves sometimes hard to find corned beef hash – Hash Breakfast ($6.50).
