Looking for a sweet dining spot in Winston-Salem?
A few of us dropped in for lunch at Mozelle’s and loved everything about it, beginning with their flowered, umbrella-shaded sidewalk seating. And how could you not love a place that drapes fleece throws over chairs for customers?
As you enter Mozelle’s, covered patio seating that can be enclosed during unfriendly weather is to your left.
Turn right for bright, fresh indoor dining. Our window table was perfect for watching the action inside and out.
Even though they’ve been around for quite a while, Fried Pickles seem to be trending at the moment. This was my chance to try this Southern delicacy without committing to an entire order (just in case). After one bite, I wished I had ordered them for myself. Plain or with the dipping sauce, yum! Wonder who thought to fry pickles in the first place? Some Southerner, I’d bet. Maybe the owner of a food cart at a county fair? Whoever you are, thank you.
Pulled Pork Spring Rolls were light and crispy outside, filled with tender pork and crunchy-fresh veggies in. I’m not positive, but I think the dipping sauce was Sesame Ginger.
One of our group ordered a side of Pattypan Squash. Mozelle’s did a nice job seasoning and cooking these cuties ’till just tender.
This Quinoa Salad made with roasted peanuts, oranges, dried cherries, scallions, fresh mint, and Bibb lettuce was my choice. Beautiful, isn’t it? What a fresh combo of citrus, grains, nuts and fruits. I ate most of it without the fruit-based sauce, it was that good.
I’d like to go back for dinner next time, but wouldn’t turn down brunch or lunch.
Mozelle’s also has a nice selection of house-made cakes and pies.
New photos haven’t been added to Mozelle’s Gallery page for a while, but you can still get a good feel for what to expect. Also check their website for current specials.
