Koriente Restaurant & Tea House is a study in freshness. Look at the gallery below and you can see part of a huge pile of fresh red peppers through the pass-through, waiting to be prepped.
There’s seating in front (minimal) and down the side of Koriente’s space, as well as a nice patio out back.
Three of us had various flavors of Bubble Tea ($3). If you’re not familiar with Bubble Tea, those dark spots toward the bottom of the glass are called “Pearls” and are balls of chewy tapioca. Vanilla was my flavor choice, and it was scrumptious to sip and chew.
Check out the gorgeous Summer Roll ($3.50) made with “crystal bean threads, avocado, spring greens, red bell peppers, and red cabbage in a thin tapioca wrap.” It was served with a light soy sauce.
I’d never had “sweet potato noodles”, so I ordered Japchel ($7). Served warm with carrots, green cabbage, red cabbage, red bell peppers and organic spring greens. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm.
My niece and son had the Obake Bowl (A) ($7). It came with a choice of beef, chicken, shrimp or pan-seared tofu. She chose the tofu, which according to her was wonderful, and he chose Chicken (also wonderful). Sauteed button mushrooms, broccoli and carrots were also in the bowl, along with steamed rice.
