PIC and I wandered over to Creperie & Cafe of Weaverville this past Sunday for lunch. We got there at 1:00pm, an hour before closing time. It’s a good thing we got there when we did. We snagged the last two indoor seats and they closed shortly after we arrived due to dwindling crepe batter.
This Chicken Club ($7.50), a garlic aioli-spread crepe wrapped around well seasoned chicken, bacon, onions, tomatoes, spinach, and cheddar cheese had a wonderful, mellow blend of flavors.
The Monte Cristo ($7.50) menu description made me a bit nervous: “Chicken, ham, Swiss cheese, raspberry jam, topped with powdered sugar and raspberry drizzle.” Chicken, ham, Swiss – and Jam? As soon as I took the first bite, nerves were calmed. What a perfect blend of savory and sweet! The meat had great seared/grilled flavor which played so well with the sweet jam.
All lunch crepes are served with a fresh side salad.
On the way to your table, stop by the easy access station holding citrus-flavored water, flatware, napkins and coffee “fixings”. Your order will be delivered to your table.
Weaverville’s new Creperie & Cafe is a gem. It’s about to glitter a little more with the completion of an outdoor patio seating area at the end of their block.
Behind the counter, in a not very spacious space, the constantly busy crew keeps things light and friendly. This spot could easily become a regular for our family.
Epicurean Notes: The Creperie’s cozy interior could only be improved slightly, in my opinion, by changing out a few of the less comfortable seats.
