Have you been to Cool Beans at 1197 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville? Two words: Adorable and Delicious!
Pictured below is a side view of the big red building housing Cool Beans, which faces Greenville Hwy. To get to Cool Beans, turn onto Brookdale Ave, then immediately into the parking lot. Cool Beans is toward the far end.
As you can see, there’s a lovely deck. But what’s really cool is their gazebo and expansive, shaded lawn area scattered with picnic tables. These shots were taken mid to late afternoon.
Owner Richie Burlett mans the shop. Happily, his family has a long industry history in the area. I say happily, because it makes me think they stand a better chance of making it long-term.
They’ve got all bases covered: hot and iced Espresso drinks (12oz and 16oz – on lower end of price range), Frappes, Frozen Custard, Smoothies (16oz), Sundaes (with locally baked brownies!), Italian Sodas, Tea, and one of my all time favorites – Root Beer Floats. They also carry Joey’s New York Bagels.
They also have Concretes, frozen custard blended with multiple “toppings”, and something called an Affogato: “a scoop of your favorite custard drowned in a shot of hot espresso”.
While I was there, a regular came in for her regular – a double Affogato. Two scoops of frozen chocolate custard with two shots of espresso. I’m bringing PIC to Cool Beans. This is right up his alley!
Richie pointed out that his wife made almost all the signs and wall decor herself. She even stenciled the walls. For the sign below, she broke apart a pallet and used it behind the letters. I think I’d like to meet this woman.
More of her work on the wall punctuates a cute seating nook outside the enclosed porch.
Cool Beans has free Wi-Fi. Look for the log-on information on tables (see yellow napkin holders).
There are some extra outlets.
One more thing – there’s live music every Saturday. What a perfect setting!
Although there are a lot of “Cool Beans” out there, this is an independent shop not related to any of the others. They came up with their own logo, which you can purchase on a tee shirt, if you’d like.
Opened since this past March, there are still some things in the works. Lunch sandwiches and salads (pending permits) and more locally baked desserts/pastries.
Ask for a Rewards Card when you go in. It’s buy 8 lattes, smoothies, frappes OR concretes and sundaes and get next one FREE.
Could Cool Beans be part of a new round of successful culinary enterprises opening in Hendersonville? Fingers crossed!
