Commercial-Grade Juices available for Home Vintners

For those who want to produce top-grade wine at home, orders are being taken through The Cork & Cap at Falderal Winery for fresh-pressed juices from Italy and California vineyards. Choose from a selection of 19 juices from Italian and California vineyards, suitable for producing commercial-grade red and white wines. The product is supplied through Vinemount Estates, a respected source for craft vintners and commercial wineries in the U.S. and Canada. These juices, which come in 6 gallon pails or 58 gallon drums, produce a higher grade wine than that made from concentrate. Cost varies according to type of grape. Please inquire at Falderal Winery, 131 Third Avenue West, downtown Hendersonville, for price details by phoning 693-7676. Orders must be placed by August 31. Delivery is expected by mid-September.

Both familiar and hard-to-find varietals are being offered, such as Amarone, Montepulciano, and Frascati from Italy, and California Alicante, Ruby Cabernet, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and the popular Pinot Noir. The full list includes:

Italy Red – Amarone, Chianti, Montepulciano, Sangiovese
Italy White – Frascati, Pinot Grigio

California Red – Alicante, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Ruby Cabernet, Shiraz, Zinfandel
California White – Chardonnay, Muscato, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc

“We are proud to offer these quality fresh-pressed juices to area vintners,” said Paul Kovacich, winemaster at Falderal Winery and co-owner of The Cork & Cap. “Our supplier has long relationships with vineyard owners in California, Italy, Canada, Argentina, and Chile. It’s exciting to be able to offer this product in Western North Carolina.”

The owners of Falderal Winery recently expanded the retail business to include The Cork & Cap, providing homemade wine, beer, and liquor enthusiasts with supplies, equipment, and ingredients such as hops, malts, whole grains, and liquid yeast; special shipments of juice for home-made wine, and corks, caps, bottles, labels, and more.

The winery opened in 2010, producing award-winning wines sold on the premises. The tasting room is open daily except Monday.
