Bunny and I caught up over lunch at Hendersonville’s Square Root last Friday.
As it turned out, I arrived well before Bunny – famished. Fried Green Tomatoes ($7) sounded perfect as a hold-me-over. Although one or two were a little overcooked, they did the job. Next time, I’ll ask for the Dijon Sauce on the side to better control per-bite coverage.
There were a few things on the menu that almost got me, but I ended up ordering the Hot Roasted Turkey Panini ($11). Perfect for a cold, blustery day, a generous portion of roasted turkey had been hot-pressed between layers of cranberry spread, avocado, bacon, Swiss cheese and garlic aioli. Sometimes turkey can be dry, but this sandwich was nice and moist.
Behind the sandwich, you can see a side of Sauteed Zucchini. One of five side choices that come with all sandwiches, it was cooked tender-crisp and seasoned wonderfully. Lots of flavor, but the zucchini was able to shine through.
Bunny went with Root’s Blue Cheese Certified Angus Beef Burger ($11). Beef is ground in-house, so you can order to your preferred doneness/ Medium-rare and without a bun, in this case. She reported it was a good burger.
Bunny’s choice of side, Sweet Potato Chips, had also been made in-house. Thank you for sharing, Bunny. They were delicious!
