Their Facebook Page says Appalachian Coffee Company was founded in 2012. David Schnitzer, Co-founder and President of Appalachian Coffee, has Hendersonville roots that go beyond the cute coffee shop he opened last Saturday as current Director of Hendersonville’s well known Camp Kanuga.
The concept’s tagline is: “grounds for doing good”, and here’s why:
“Drinking coffee has now become more than just my favorite drink; it has become an opportunity to give back. With every purchase from Appalachian Coffee something good happens in the mountains. Part of our profits goes to support the Appalachian Trail, to raise scholarships for summer campers, and to offer a good cup of coffee that’s both Organic and Fair Trade Certified.” ~ David Schnitzer

Sis and I checked out their new coffee shop at the intersection of 2nd Ave and Church St. in Hendersonville today. It was plenty warm walking up and down Main Street, as it is almost every year for the Garden Jubilee, and I needed a cold drink.
Seeing a machine that pulled shots made me nervous, but my iced vanilla latte was perfect. Even though I was assured the machine is calibrated frequently for consistent quality, I’ll be going back soon for a hot latte test.
That large sign on the right of the shop points to the drive-up window approach. Go around back and up to the window on the left side of the building.
