I like sushi and PIC doesn’t care for it. That means I don’t go as often as I’d like.
Marti, a good friend, asked if I’d like to get lunch at Umi today. Yay! Going to Umi is like giving myself a gift. And she didn’t even know it’s my birthday.
Umi is my go-to place for Sushi, and Japanese in general. Haven’t had anything less than fabulous there.
They’ve just added a new waterfall wall with turning water wheel that’s lovely. And not confirmed with the owners, but on good authority, I’ve heard a pergola is next for the patio. In the end, I think Umi’s patio will be one of the nicest spots for outdoor dining in Hendersonville.
After ordering drinks – wine for Marti and a cocktail for me – we both started off our meals with flavorful Miso Soup.
Thank goodness for friends who love to share tastes! Marti’s Tuna Tartar was terrific! Loved the flavor, including a slight kick according to Marti. I took a small taste and didn’t get much of a kick. The Tartar was topped with roe and a quail egg. It’s not on their lunch menu, so if you want the Tartar, you need to ask.
I love Bento Boxes, and Umi’s version with my choice of Shrimp Tempura was the perfect way to go. Not too filling, but lots of different tastes. Each Box comes with a California Roll or Spring Roll, Bean Sprout Salad, Pork Dumpling and your choice of one more item from a list of eleven.
Weather was a little crazy today for eating al fresco. Next time for sure on that wonderful patio!
