Locals have been watching for the opening at Bold Rock Hard Cider’s new Mills River location. The announcement came via Facebook a few days before the sign went up this past Friday – now open.
According to sources at the cidery, Bold Rock owners have purchased about one hundred acres in Mills River, but I think this location on School House Rd. is just over seven and a half acres. Plenty of room for parking, a large deck, and fun things they have planned for the future: a volleyball court, outdoor Bar-B-Que, food trucks, and more.
A nice bar has been set up with great views of the tanks and bottling line.
A few tables line the side wall across from the bar. Word is there may be in-house food, sofa-type seating and a big screen TV toward the back of the space in the future.
Pricing is extremely friendly – so far. A flight of 5 (good sized) for $5. On opening day, they threw in two extra tastes for free. Yay! Tastes are presented in the order on the board – more or less.
I’m not ashamed to say I tried every one on the board – and their seasonal Pumpkin Cider. There wasn’t one I didn’t like, but that Pumpkin Cider is the bomb! My other favorite is the IPA. Gail, working the bar, described it as “lively”. I agree. Whatever the season, I’ll be ordering the IPA . . . and others, of course.
It’s a little tough to get information specific to the Mills River location. Hopefully, they’ll set up a Mills River Facebook Page. For now, all notices are posted to the corporate Facebook Page.
Hours: All I can find on Mills River Bold Rock hours are that they are “Open 11 AM – 6 PM on Saturday and 12 PM – 6 PM on Sunday.”
Haven’t been able to find a local phone contact. The only thing I can suggest if you want to contact the folks at Bold Rock would be a Facebook message, calling their VA number (434) 361-1030, or emailing them at [email protected]
