Greenville, SC – by Sam Ritter
It has been a while since my last column in Carolina Epicurean, but recently, a visit…make that TWO visits to a new Greenville, SC eatery, has prompted this review!!
Dive N Boar, the brainchild of gifted restaurateur Omar Naji, is a new hot spot in Greenville, SC, masterminded by chef-extraordinaire, Adrian Carpenter, former Executive Chef for many years at High Cotton in Greenville. To say that Chef Carpenter is an artist with a spectacular palate (pun intended!!), would be akin to saying Rembrandt was an okay painter!! The concept of owner Omar and chef Adrian is to bring unique cuisine featuring local purveyors in small plates suitable for sharing, in order to maximize the diners’ experience. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
Your only problem will be choosing from the very large number of menu offerings!! Solution: go with friends and share them all!! And…GO OFTEN!!
Do not miss The Hot Buttered Buns With Blue Crab. Yes…you HAVE to share!! The “Food-On-A- Stick” selections of Wagyu Beef and The Pork Belly are absolutely delicious!! Move on to The Vegetables and order The Eggplant and Butternut Squash and The Roasted Beets!
But….do not…DO NOT miss The Red Wine Braised Rabbit: the dish lasted just long enough for the photo!!
The space is warm and inviting yet quite informal. The waitstaff is friendly and informative. The kitchen is open so you can witness the culinary symphony conducted by Maestro Adrian and his line of superb “musicians”.
So: run…run…run and enjoy the truly spectacular cuisine and experience!!
Dive N Boar is located at 2541 North Pleasantburg Drive just off 276 with ample parking right near the door!!
