Mount Pleasant – The second annual Lowcountry Irish Festival is a musical and cultural celebration of all things uniquely Irish in the South Carolina Lowcountry. This two-day, family-friendly event will take place on February 10th and 11th at Omar Shriners Auditorium in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Featuring authentic Irish music and food, Irish dancing, children’s activities and historical insight, the goal is to bring South Carolina’s Irish and Celtic communities together as a unified celebration of heritage.
With Charleston’s rich Irish and Celtic history at the forefront, this event will be thriving with tradition! Each day will begin with a bagpipe procession and will continue with over a dozen performing acts across four stages. Traditional Irish cuisine will be available from multiple vendors and there will be plenty of activities for the “wee-ones.”
The College of Charleston Irish Heritage Room will feature presentations and demonstrations highlighting Irish culture, traditions and dance. Attendees will be able to hear stories of Irish plantation owners, immigrants, laborers, pirates and the Irishmen who powered the HL Hunley with their bare hands.
Contributing local groups will include; The Charleston Irish Historical Society, The Ancient Order of Hibernians, The College of Charleston School of Irish Studies, The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Charleston Irish.
