Cabo's Burritos opened about a month ago in the space formerly occupied by The Caribbean at 1971 Asheville Hwy, Hendersonville, NC. You can miss it if you don't know where to look. Fishy Fishy Cafe, Southport, NC has so much going for it: good seafood, good location, good seating variety, good attitude. Funky signs and art are scattered around, adding to the beachy ambiance. In addition to the interior, semi-covered and covered outside dining areas, they also have a dock with tables under bright red umbrellas (not pictured). Fishy Fishy has some interesting history. Beginning late last year, owners began morphing Scully's into something a little different. Their logo went from "Scully's Signature Dine & Drink" to "Scully's Bar & Grille" They've also got a ". . . new menu and now some new windows on the street." Sugarland has only been in business three years, but has already been featured on the Food Network, MTV Good Morning America and in Southern Living magazine! When I asked Co-owner (with her husband) Katrina Ryan why she was getting so much national exposure, she said she wasn't exactly sure except she has a bright, colorful shop and is on a block of Franklin St. that probably gets more foot traffic than any other block in North Carolina. Who knew? I've been driving by this place for years. The sign said something about a Japanese Steakhouse, which didn't do much for me, so I never stopped . . . until today. Okay. I did peek in the window a couple years ago, but didn't go in. Today I noticed a new sign: Ganko Express - Hibachi, Sushi, Chinese & Thai. Turns out ownership changed about a year ago. I was having one of those days. The kind where I'd agreed to meet a friend for lunch and then went to the wrong restaurant. After a quick call asking her where she was, I headed over to the right restaurant - on the other side of town. Ugh! Watch out, Papas and Beer! New players are in town! Two Mexican restaurants opened recently; Elena's Mexican Grill (So Asheville/Arden) and Sol Y Luna (Hendersonville/Laurel Park - review coming soon). Elena's is new, but owned by the same people that own El Rebozo (2270 Hendersonville Rd, near DQ) and Casa Torres (336 Rockwood Rd Ste 109, near Arden Cracker Barrel). There's no gambling involved - you can expect consistently good food and friendly staff every time you go to Thai Spice. Because it opened to very mixed reviews - it's authentic, it's not authentic, it's not spicy enough, it's just right - I've taken my time, making half a dozen visits before writing this review.
