Seasonal Food - Regional Focus
Usually I save hot dog consumption for ball games, but a group of us decided to see if we could find (and agree on) the best hot dog in the Asheville/Hendersonville area. We're not talking about all-beef, bratwurst, or any kind of specialty dog - just your basic hot dog. Mills River Restaurant had us locked-in for breakfast for the longest time. Then we had a yucky experience (think overnight cat party) which caused us to turn around and leave as soon as we stepped inside. We've been having breakfast elsewhere since. Mills River Restaurant is the kind of place you find in a town (not a city) before the big boys (national chains) come in. It's a frequent destination when local parents say, "come on kids, we're going out to dinner". It's the place the church men's group meets for breakfast during the week.
