Weekent Getaway - After a few months of cold weather in Western NC last February, we hopped a low cost flight out of Asheville for a weekend getaway in Orlando, Florida.

Pigeon Forge, TN -

Beaufort, NC - "Beaufort needed this." That's what most people said when I told them I was staying at the brand spankin' new Beaufort Hotel NC.

Travel - The drive itself was beautiful and full of interesting sights. And it was fascinating to see what a top ski resort can become in the off season.

Road trips gave our kids the chance to see a lot of the country close up and personal, as well as a lot of National Parks.

Asheboro - As soon as I sat down to write about the June day I spent at the NC Zoo, Simon & Garfunkel's song "At the Zoo" played in my head.

Asheboro's revival at the hands of locals seems to have started in 2013 when two new businesses opened. A second local-owned restaurant followed in 2015.
