East Side Show Room

East Side Show Room describes themselves as “. . . a modern monument to the cafés, music halls, and cabarets of pre-War Eastern Europe, Berlin, and New York. Yet, their distinctly Texan warmth and hospitality adds a familial charm.” and “E.S.S.R is here to provide a stimulating, artistic, and social environment to luxuriate in with friends, lovers, and comrades, while imbibing vintage cocktails [20’s & 30’s], gourmet cuisine, fine wine, eclectic beer, live music, and local art.”

From the outside . . . meh. From the inside . . . cool! Be sure to check out the enclosed patio out back. It’s sweet.

We stopped at East Side for appetizers and drinks before heading over to an Moroccan restaurant that disappointed, so no mention here. Should have just stayed put! While we waited for the rest of our party, we were entertained by silent movies running on a wall-mounted flat screen in the dining area.

Gouda with house-made mustard, Blue Cheese (aged 10 days) on honey & candied pecans and Goat Cheese wrapped in a grape leaf on peach jam, all plated artistically and served as a Texas Cheese Plate ($12) was just perfect. It was served with freshly baked baguette slices. Their jams are house-made. We also had a plate of tasty Pork Dumplings. Take a look at their inventive menu here.

To drink, Moscow Mule and Pimms Cup, each $9. Others in our group decided to stick with beer.
