We had breakfast at Rise N Shine Cafe in North Asheville this past Saturday, so I thought I’d share a couple pictures and give you a quick overview of this neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot favored by locals, including UNCA students.
Inside is bright and cheery with cloud-painted ceiling. I’m not sure if the waiting list is always done the way it was on Saturday, on a small pad by the front door. If there’s a wait and you don’t see someone taking names, just ask.
Outside seating is available on a spacious, dog-friendly patio.
This Roasted Potato Bowl ($7.25) was filled with potatoes, onions and peppers, topped with Cheddar Cheese and two free range eggs (any style). Bacon or Soysage crumbles can be added for $1.75. And Vegans can substitute tempeh for the eggs and cheese. Those are two soft-poached eggs topping the bowl pictured below.
And the Rise ‘N Shine Breakfast ($7.50) includes two free range eggs, a protein (local sausage or bacon, tempeh or soysage), grits or potatoes, and toast.
Rise ‘n Shine potatoes are notable for their savory house seasoning. Hash browns here, on the other hand, are more what you’d expect in flavor.
Service, provided by Manager, Sam and a server in our case, was exceptional.
Epicurean Notes: Expect a wait on the weekends. See their menu here.
