Being a gin girl, I thought I’d share what’s currently on the bar at our place.

BURBON BARREL GIN

I wasn’t sure about this one when my Daughter-in-Law gave it to me as a gift. All it took was one Burbon Barrel G&T! So many layers of flavor, opening up one after the other. Different and delicious!

It’s 100 Mill St Gin’s “flagship, award-winning maple-based gin, gently aged in single use Kentucky Bourbon barrel (Buffalo Trace Mashbill #1 – Stagg Jr 7 year). The weight and balance of the gin shines in a unique, mellow marrying of soft botanicals and pleasant, sippable sweet notes. Perfect for both gin and bourbon lovers.”

“Paired with maple sap’s natural sweetness is a conscientious selection of 14 unique and beguiling botanicals. Though led by juniper, the “secret recipe” (spoiler: not really a secret) coalesces to produce a unique umami that speaks highly of itself on its own and across any gin cocktail. This bottle’s from a very limited release BATCH 01 – 156 bottles only.”

BOREAL JUNIPER GIN

Our daughter introduced us to Vikre Distillery and their gin. We visited her while she was living in Duluth working on her advanced degrees.

From the folks at Vikre Distillery: “We take [our founder’s] passion for flavor and “pour it into every bottle—blending deep expertise with the natural beauty of hand-picked botanicals, organic grains, and pristine water.”

“They also produce tasty (I’ve tried them all) Cedar and Spruce Gins. Their “gins feature a combination of foraged wild botanicals and gin, with strong juniper notes backed by coriander, citrus, local rhubarb, and a light spicy kick from pink peppercorns.”

HENDRICK’S GIN

Hendrick’s is my go-to when ordering a Gin & Tonic out . . . unless I happen to like their house gin. I like to change things up now and then.

“To deliver a most curious and delightfully unique flavour, Hendrick’s combines a distinct blend of eleven botanicals, as well as the signature infusions of cucumber and rose petals. Hand crafted in Scotland in miniscule batches by William Grant & Sons, Hendrick’s is the only gin that uses a marriage of spirits from both Carterhead and Bennett Copper Pot Still, a combination that produces a divinely smooth gin that has both the required character and balance of subtle flavours.”

GORDON’S LONDON DRY GIN

No disrespect to Mr. Gordon, but this is what I use in a G&T when I’m at home, don’t care, and want to save the good stuff for another time.

“Multi-awarding winning classic, made to the same exacting standard as Alexander Gordon held in 1769, Gordon’s Gin is an unashamedly juniper-prominent gin: classic in a bold, fresh style.”

“The distinctively refreshing taste comes from the finest handpicked juniper berries and a selection of other botanicals. It’s the taste that’s made Gordon’s the world’s best-selling London Dry gin.”
