Burnsville’s 1833 NuWray Hotel Celebrates Restoration and New Restaurant

The NuWray Hotel celebrates the down-to-the-studs restoration of NC’s 1833 historic gem, located at 102 Town Square, Burnsville NC.

Built in 1833, the NuWray Hotel is North Carolina’s oldest continuously operating hotel. Owners James and Amanda Keith planned to reopen the fully restored hotel in September, 2024.

Historic NuRay Hotel

Hurricane Helene cancelled their plans. Without power or water, the hotel and Burnsville community linked arms to transform the historic building into the mountain town’s emergency hub. For months, it was a place to find shelter, relief support and hot meals. Months later, it continued to house displaced residents and relief crews.

NuWray, the new restaurant inside the hotel, will open this Saturday, May 31st.
