Old Montreal, aka “Vieux Montréal” is an easily walkable city! There are some streets/alleys that are closed to vehicles, so foot traffic only. Historic and modern buildings mix together seamlessly. Plenty of quality restaurants, bars, and coffee shops are throughout the city, but Place Jaques-Cartier is a gorgeous walkable “square” with government buildings and a large statue at one end and the St Lawrence Riverfront a few steps from the other.

We loved the rooftop restaurants, historic buildings, and the fun Old Port on the waterfront.

Pro Tip – If you’re into cool Speakeasys or Bars, find the Coldroom. It’s hidden entrance (Rue Saint-Amable x Rue Saint-Vincent – SHHHH!) and history are fascinating! Find the unmarked Black Door in a brick wall and ring the buzzer. Someone will come, open it, and walk you down into what was once a cold storage warehouse.

Pro Tip – Parking in Old Town can be a nightmare. Valet your vehicle if possible and head out on foot.
