Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL Unveils Full Festival Schedule

Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL is thrilled to announce its full schedule, taking place on September 6-7, 2024. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Asheville’s history, culture, and community, showcasing a diverse range of performances, workshops, and heritage exhibits that capture the spirit of this unique city.

This festival will be a vibrant tribute to Asheville’s rich history, arts, and culture, showcasing an eclectic mix of performances, trail tours, and community-driven activities. From the city’s storied past as a turn-of-the-century boomtown to its current status as a hub of creativity, the festival aims to celebrate and preserve the unique heritage that makes Asheville a beloved destination. This year, the festival will be commemorating the 100th anniversaries of the Jackson Building, J.A. Wilson Building, and Battery Park Hotel; The 105th anniversary of the Basilica of St. Lawrence & Mount Zion Baptist; The 115th anniversary of the Legal Building, as well as all the key contributors.

Andrew Ellington, the festival’s founder/organizer and a direct descendant of renowned architect Douglas Dobell Ellington, is known for his passion for cultural preservation and his love for the unconventional. His extensive background in the music industry, combined with his commitment to honoring Asheville’s heritage, inspired him to create a festival that celebrates both the past and future of this dynamic city. “Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL is about more than just entertainment—it’s about storytelling, connection, and community,” Andrew shares. “I wanted to create something that makes people look a little closer, just like my relative Sallie Ellington Middleton intended with her hidden blue feathers in her paintings.”

The festival will bring together an array of artists, musicians, and storytellers, creating an immersive experience that highlights the city’s diverse cultural tapestry. Attendees can look forward to a dynamic lineup of main stage performances, interactive workshops, heritage exhibits, and trail tours that highlight Asheville’s architectural marvels, pioneering figures, and stories of resilience. Join us for an unforgettable celebration that bridges the past and present, fostering a deeper connection to Asheville’s vibrant legacy in the land of the sky.
